Energy saving advantage of alumina ceramic substrate in heating element application

In the positive temperature coefficient (hereinafter referred to as: PTC) is a semiconductor thermosensitive ceramic substrate, which is characterized by temperature sensitivity. The resistance is negative below the distance temperature, when it reaches the distance temperature, its resistance value begins to increase sharply. When used as heating material, it has the advantages of automatic constant temperature, no oxygen consumption, corrosion resistance and so on. PTC ceramics are mainly doped barium titanate semiconductor ceramic substrates, which have low ionization energy and can be excited by heat to generate conductive charge carriers at room temperature, thus forming semiconductors.


High temperature co-fired alumina ceramic substrate heating sheet, namely cermet heater (hereinafter referred to as MCH) adopts high temperature co-fired multilayer ceramic substrate technology. According to the design requirements, the heating resistance paste is printed on the casting ceramic billet. Heating circuit, multi - layer combination burning into one, with corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, long life and other characteristics. With long, high efficiency and energy saving, uniform temperature, good thermal conductivity, fast thermal compensation, free of lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium and other harmful substances, fully meet the environmental requirements of the European Union.

Electric heater heating air: the air heating effect of MCH electric heater is better than that of PTC electric heater. At low heat, the maximum temperature of MCH can reach 115℃, while that of PTC is only 93℃. In high heat mode, the balance power of MCH is only about 80% of that of PTC. Electric heater heating constant heat long tube: under the same conditions, the air heating effect of MCH electric heater is better than that of PTC electric heater when a fixed voltage is applied. Heating test in confined space: In terms of power consumption, MCH saves 24.59% energy compared with PTC.


Heating silicone oil contrast test: Compare the heating performance and power consumption of PTC and MCH heating elements using silicone oil as the heating and conduction medium. Under the same conditions as other conditions and under the same consumption, the heating effect of MCH heating element is obviously better than that of PTC heating element. The above comparison shows that under the same test conditions, under the premise of better heating effect than PTC heating element, MCH heating element is more than 20% energy saving than PTC heating element.


Material analysis and comparison


MCH heating sheet is a kind of high temperature co-fired multilayer metallized ceramic substrate composite material. The heated metal coating is printed on the alumina ceramic substrate blank as the insulating medium, and then another alumina ceramic blank is pressed on the top of it. Combined into one, from the heating principle, MCH heating principle is metal tungsten conduction, metal tungsten high electric conversion efficiency is recognized. The nature of metal conduction is free electron conduction, and metal atoms have fewer electrons in their outer layers. When combined into structural elements, atoms have more electron vacancies in their outer layers, which allow foreign electrons to enter and move around, so they can easily conduct electricity.


PTC is essentially a semiconductor material. The principle of electric heating is the formation of a certain number of free electrons through semiconductor doping. PTC is made of barium titanate as matrix and doped with other polycrystalline ceramic materials, which has low resistance and semi-conductive properties.
